France reopened preschools and primary schools last week to restart the economy while practising social distancing. But, 70 new cases of infection have emerged that are linked to reopening of the schools.
The affected 70 schools have been ordered to close down as the preventive measures immediately. The Education Minister of France, Jean-Michel Blanquer ordered the opening of 40,000 schools in the country with the class size of 15 students each. The decision was taken to restart the economy without enabling an increase in cases.
French Education Ministry told CNN that the seventy schools had to close their doors as the cases appeared in the wider community.
The Ministry said, “FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU TAKE THE CITY OF SENS, 25 OF THE 70 SCHOOLS WE [TALKED] ABOUT ARE IN THE SAME CITY BECAUSE THERE WAS ONE CASE OF [COVID-19] IN THAT CITY.”
Total 1.04million students have returned to schooling out of which 1,86,000 are middle schoolers in green zones which are regarded as free of the deadly virus by the Ministry.
